Since 2015, the Old Town Farmers’ Market has provided a home for a variety of vendors from around the state. Located in quaint yet lively Old Town Scottsdale, this market is open almost every Saturday throughout the year; however, during the hot summer months from May to September, the market is usually closed. Fortunately, when it is open, visitors will find the freshest organic produce, homemade jams and jellies, cheeses, flowers and much, much more. In addition to the excellent products at this farmers’ market, all of the purveyors are always willing to provide more information about themselves and how the products are made.
Unique Finds at Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market
One of the best things about a farmers’ market is the fact that you can always find one-of-a-kind products that you rarely see in typical supermarkets. For example, where else can you pick up some Blue Palo Verde Flour alongside some local, handmade, small-batch goat cheese? Depending on the season (winter or spring), the produce varies from organic lettuce and micro greens in the late summer, yet as the year turns colder, expect a wide array of oranges, Brussel sprouts, rutabagas, leeks, lemons, etc. Naturally, no market would be complete without fresh, local bread, from challah to pumpernickel, there is no shortage of excellent bakers around the stalls.
Ready to Eat?
As most farmers’ market aficionados know, through all of the samples and small bites, one usually tends to get hungry, especially when the scent of different foods waft through the cool air. During your time at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market, order some tamales to eat on the spot or try some local meats from one of the nearby ranches. Bring your appetite because it is hard to visit without eating breakfast and lunch combined! If you want, purchase one of the delectable bottles of salsa verde to pour on top of the tamales or anything else you want.
